New York, NY, October, 2004 - The inaugural MSRA Corporate Squash Challenge kicked off the 2004-05 season with a splash. The tournament was the first of its kind in the New York metropolitan area, and it was received with immense enthusiasm. The draw, originally limited to 8 teams, was oversubscribed and expanded to 10 teams. Each corporate team's roster consisted of 3 to 5 players (3 active players with 1 or 2 alternates).
MSRA member clubs which provided court time and support to this new and exciting event included the Harvard Club, the Yale Club, the Princeton Club, NYSC Uptown and the Printing House Racquet and Fitness Club.
The participating teams and their order of finish are:
- Bear Stearns
- Goldman Sachs
- Credit Suisse First Boston
- Reuters
- PriceWaterhouseCoopers
- KPMG Corporate Finance
- Morgan Stanley
- Prudential
- Warburg Pincus
- McKinsey
Plans are currently underway to hold the tournament two to three times during the year, with the next one scheduled for April/May 2005. We are planning to expand the tournament format to include many more teams and have multiple divisions in the draw (as opposed to the one ‘open' draw used in the inaugural event).
