2003 Winner: Libby Welch
At 5 months pregnant, Libby was still competing for her Harvard
women’s 5.5 team. She led the team to another league
finals despite giving birth during the season! Libby has
served on the USSRA women’s committee for past few
years, and has recently been elected to women’s chair
for the upcoming season. As part of the women’s committee,
Libby has helped to organize women’s US team selection
events in the metropolitan area. She has also helped organize
New York teams for the annual Howe Cup women’s team
tournament over the past few years. This year, despite being
ordered by her Dr. that she couldn’t actually play,
Libby still helped to promote the event and organize teams.
