2002 Winner: Zoë Gleadhall
A prior winner of most improved player, Zoë has become
a strong supporter of squash in the city. Having assumed
captaincy of Uptown teams she provides encouragement and
moral support to her team players even if she isn't playing
the match herself. Organizing team practices and managing
the demands of team squash, she remains enthusiastic throughout.
Her determination and focus were demonstrated in her leadership
role of the victorious New York B team at the 2001 Howe Cup.
Coming from behind she pulled out a win to ensure the title
came back to New York. In addition to her efforts in women's
squash, she is always willing to help out at events in the
city, coping with the demands of all players. Using the words
of one of her nominators, "She seems like one of the
few people who have been making a difference in women's squash".
