Robert H. Lehman (est. 1968)
for the year's most improved male player

2005 Winner: Tim Sanders

Tim moved up to the 4.0 league this year and took on the additional role of co-captain of the Sports Club/LA men’s team. The team had a tough time in fielding a full team each week and on several occasions Tim was put into the number one spot, even though there were several players on the roster better than him. Tim repeatedly played up to the challenge, posting a personal winning record, and the only winning record on a 1-8-3 team. On many occasions, he beat players on the opposing squad who on paper were better than him. Tim is a gentleman on the court, and has a good understanding of the game and the rules. He’s a humble winner and a gracious loser. He took the league seriously (but not too seriously), and always made sure the team had fun. Tim steadily improved over the season and would let nothing keep him off the court – not even getting hit in the face and having stiches as he was back on court the next day. This dedication was rewarded towards the end of the season as he was asked to represent the men’s 4.5 team in regular season competition. All in all a solid squash player who appreciates this game we love to play – regardless of our talent and abilities.
