for the year's most improved male player

2002 Winners: Marc Levin & Nick Howard

With a number of strong candidates over the past season, once again this award was shared between two players that have shown solid improvement over the year.

Marc Levin was a stalwart in the Lincoln B team, this past season, he has worked hard on his game becoming a more competent player as the season progressed. Winning the self-scheduling C division during the summer of 2001, he moved into the B's becoming a regular at New York events. At the New York Open he won the B consolation draw and 3 months later he made it past the first round of the B's at the Grand Open. At the National Warm-ups he found himself in the finals of the B draw, just falling short in the fifth game with the score at 9-7. At the Nationals his grit and determination pulled him through to win the B consolations. As a key player in Lincoln's B team this season he won each of his 7 matches played achieving the best record in the men's B league.

Nick Howard compiled an impressive record of only 1 loss in 30 team matches over the past 2 seasons in the B+ league. While remaining committed to his B+ team, he has moved into the realms of the A league in tournaments. However, within the As, he has faced tough opposition. Opening the season with a win in the Ltd A consolations at the New York Open, he has since made it through to several semi-finals of the main draw, only to fall to the eventual winner of the tournament. He completed the season in style with victory in the Ltd A self-scheduling tournament. A few comments received by the board regarding Nick were as follows…
