2003 Winners: Marilla Hiltz and Garnett Booth

Both Marilla and Garnet are juniors from the Heights Casino, and both are ranked within the top 5 of their respective U19 categories. On court they push themselves hard aiming to win, but are always fair and friendly. Off court, regardless of a win or a loss, Marilla and Garnet are more than happy to talk with their opponents about pending college years, squash, or any other topic.

Marilla’s season climaxed with her 5th placing at the National Junior Closed tournament, which led to and invitation to final try-outs for the junior women’s squad. While she didn’t make the team her efforts have been truly recognized in her results. For the 2002-03 season, Marilla was a member of the Heights Casino women’s 5.5 team. By the end of the season she took the number one spot and was undefeated in her matches

Garnett was the winner of the Princeton Junior Olympics. His efforts during the season resulted in him being seeded number one for National Junior Closed tournament. Unfortunately he had to retire in the quarterfinals of this tournament due to injury. For the 2002-03 season, Garnett was member of the Heights Casino men’s 5.5 team. During the season he took matches from longstanding 5.5 team players from Uptown and Cobble Hill.
