2002 Winner: Nick Chirls

Another protégé from the Heights Casino junior program, Nick has shown a sincere commitment to the game. Maintaining a good balance of life he has a good work ethic demonstrating dedication to the sport and taking enjoyment from his playing ability. Entertaining onlookers at the National Warm-ups he made it through to the finals of the 5.5 division losing the close fought match 10-9 in the fourth to Josh Miller. At the junior level, he plays up an age group and has moved up the U19 rankings currently standing at number 4. He placed third at this years U19 junior nationals, only losing to Julian Illingsworth the eventual winner. Regardless of a win or a loss, he continues to show great sportsmanship throughout. As a strong candidate for the US junior team, his hard work paid off with a position on the USA team for the mens junior world event in India later this year.
