2003 Winner: Tim Wyant
Tim was a member of the men’s US team that participated
in the World Championship in Australia. Having spent two
years training in England, Tim returned to the US and was
hindered by injury for most of last season. This year his
fitness was truly challenged and exemplified his high standard
of play. Kicking off 2003 he won the Yale Invitational in
a 90 minute battle with U.S. teammate Richard Chin. At the
Nationals in March 2003 he pushed himself through two 5 game,
2 hour marathons. In one of these marathon matches he was
2-0 down and match-ball down in the third, when his grit
and determination prevailed to pull out a 3-2 victory. Through
all his efforts Tim placed 6th at the Nationals.
Tim now passes on his skills and knowledge to a group of
school children in the Bronx through the CitySquash program.
He shows the same level of fairness and energy with the children
as he does his game. Tim is a true sportsman who always has
a smile on his face. Anyone who has seen him play, knows
he puts every effort into every game he plays.
